The new deck serves as the perfect vantage point for taking in the peaceful view.

Deciding that their existing deck was in need of an upgrade, the owners of this Fort Wayne home contacted Archadeck of Fort Wayne for help. Although their deck had serviced them well in the past they really need some additional space and a new look. The surface was beginning to show extensive wear and tear, the railings were a little shabby and the overall design lacked interest and versatility of function. With the primary goals of additional space, increased functionality and an updated look, we quickly got to work on several possible solutions with the homeowners.

We believe when creating the perfect custom outdoor space, design elements and material selections are vital to the construction of a one-of-a-kind structure as opposed to a run-of-the-mill deck. The ultimate design selected was one which expanded the existing deck with a level change and included the addition of deck stairs. An integrated planter and a bench between the old and new deck were also included to help tie the two spaces together and provide visual interest. In addition we built an under-the-bench storage area to keep the area neat and tidy. For these homeowners, all of these upgrades and additions provide the perfect spot for relaxing, entertaining, catching some sun, dining or even dancing the night away.

Material selection of the decking boards, skirting and railing for this project focused on real wood appearance and textured metals, with minimal maintenance requirements and color combinations which complement one another. TimberTech Earthwood Evolutions Terrain decking in Silver Maple was used for the decking boards, planters, benches and storage area’s access doors along with TimberTech skirting for a professional-quality finishing touch for this structure. This capped composite decking takes scratch, stain and fade resistance to an entirely new level with warm, natural hardwood style and authentic graining. For the railing we used Westbury Tuscany Railing in the textured black fine finish which features a classic 2-rail design accented with a stylish top rail and ¾” balusters.

As evidenced in these beautiful pictures, the end results exceeded the homeowners’ expectations. No longer do they have a space which is cramped and worn out. Their new structure is spacious with a gorgeous view of their back yard and includes the amenities which best suit their needs, such as storage and additional built-in seating for a complete outdoor living space of which they can truly be proud. On top of that, with the warranties that Archadeck, TimberTech and Westbury provide, they can be assured that their outdoor experience will be a good one, for a long time to come.
